- We have our first teacher volunteers for our device selection pilot at CHS. Shout out to Jennifer Ludwig and Kortney Sebben in the Language Arts department and Erin Kinworthy and Tonya Schmidt in the Science department for volunteering!
- Our devices for the pilot will be iPads, Chromebooks, laptops, and student-brought devices.
- The iPads and accessories have been ordered, and so far the keyboards, Apple TV, and new Mac Mini server have arrived. QNS has installed the server, and we’ve put systems in place for registering new iPads and setting up iPad app purchasing. The cases have been delayed, so Apple is going to look into separating the case order from the iPad order so that the iPads will ship as soon as possible. Our timeline to start in classes was yesterday, so that will push us back by at least a week, probably two.
- MORENet, our Internet provider, has agreed to bring Chromebooks once a month for our students to use. The cost for this is simply reimbursement of mileage and meals, so for the price of one Chromebook, we’re able to have 6 Chromebook days. We can add more days if needed or requested by students and teachers.
- We had our first successful technology workshop, Google 101, with 27 staff members attending. The workshop helped participants set up google calendar and drive, as well as learn ways they can use both calendar and drive to make teaching and learning more effective and efficient. The next workshop will be 9/24 on Flipped Learning!
- We’ve also started a Thursday Tutorial program, where we send out a short technology tutorial each Thursday. So far, tutorials have included how to send emails to parents and students through SIS and google contacts, how to set up Remind text messaging for parent and students, and how to set-up Google Classroom.
- The administration has also had their first digital leadership workshop that focused on their role in ensuring our vision and goals happen. Their next workshop next week will focus on setting personal technology goals and action plans for their proficiency development. We’ll focus on ways they can model digital mindsets for our staff and students.
