Got my iPad today! I'm a total Apple fan; their products are easy, intuitive, and reliable. And on the superficial side, they're so aesthetically pleasing. At the same time, our tech initiative isn't about the device itself, but how the device will best supplement what we're doing in the classroom, so I'm keeping an open mind as we head into device selection phase.
My iPad is already stocked with my favorite apps, which include the social network biggies - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube. My other favorite app of the moment is Unstuck, which is absolutely brilliant. It helps you define your goals and vision and solve problems. Plus, it's absolutely FREE! I also use Gneo, which is a productivity / task-based app. And don't forget the Google Drive and Gmail apps - indispensable.
Eventually, I'll get a laptop, but I'm waiting for QNS to reimage them, so that I can have the same computer as my teachers. I want to understand their frustrations and software limitations, so that I can help problem-solve and recommend apps and lessons plans.
My training space is also getting a makeover with movable tables and comfy movable chairs. I want to create a space where we can collaborate and where we don't mind sitting for more than an hour. I'm also going to see if they'll let me paint those institutional white walls. A girl can dream!
