My goal today was to have a better idea of our readiness for a 1:1 initiative. I want to make sure we're as thorough as possible with our planning for this initiative so that we have better results. To that end, I downloaded the RED Design Model Project Plan from projectred.org. Project Red studied technology integration in over 1000 schools to determine what works best and produces increases in student achievement. The Project Plan has 37 pages. 37 pages. Of tasks to be done. 37. Pages.
I don't want to say it's overwhelming, but it's somewhat overwhelming. That said, if we follow it, we'll have thought of absolutely everything on the road to success. I need to wrap my mind around the whole document, so I read through it today and created a visual summary. From that visual summary, I processed the plan through the lens of:
Now, I'll take each piece and work with it until we have a full, comprehensive, and coherent plan for taking our district 1:1.
This is an adventure, and I'm really happy I get to be a part of it.
